Here’s a quick look at some of the initiatives that are underway in support of the Jack Langerman Community Foundation:

Jack Langerman Way

Our incredibly thoughtful and generous neighbors undertook the herculean task of re-naming a neighborhood walkway in Jack’s honor, and unveiled a street sign and plaque to officially dedicate what will now be known as Jack Langerman Way.

Jack Langerman Way connects our Deerfield neighborhood to Seven Locks Elementary School, two places that played an outsized and defining role in Jack’s life story, and that will be supported for years to come by the Jack Langerman Foundation.

The idea that Jack will forever link these two transformative communities together – both literally and figuratively – is a perfect representation of our foundations' aspirations.

Known and Loved beer fundraiser

Along with True Respite and several loving families who generously underwrote production, we created a batch of "Known and Loved" Beer! This Hazy IPA's label reads "To know Jack Langerman was to love Jack Langerman. More importantly, to be known by Jack was to be loved by Jack, and this beer was brewed to reflect Jack's belief that every person you meet is a potential friend, every interaction you have an opportunity to make someone's day better, and that everyone deserves to be known and loved. If you were in Jack's world, chances are someone new is now in your because of him. It's in that spirit we encourage you to share this beer with a friend, a friend-of-a-friend, or maybe someone who could be a friend. We hope you'll use it to bring people together, to brighten their day, and to honor Jack. Carpe diem, seize the day - and cheers!" The beer was sold entirely to family and friends, and all proceeds benefited the Foundation. It sold out quickly, so hopefully we'll be back in the brewhouse making another batch sometime soon.

Half Marathon, Fairfield, CT

On June 27th, 2021 Jack's girlfriend Elizabeth Bobroske, Middlebury Baseball teammate Alan Guild and good friend James Wroblewski put their feet to work by completing the Faxon Law Fairfield Half-Marathon and raising a significant amount of money for the Foundation! We are so inspired by their efforts, and so grateful for their generosity.

Andrew Greene Half Iron Man.jpg

Half Ironman, Benton Harbor, MI

Not to be undone, that same day Jack’s good friend Andrew Greene (Middlebury '21) completed the Steelhead 70.3 Half Ironman, also raising a significant amount of money for the Foundation. Thank you Andrew for your continued support and we look forward to your next race!

Coming Up

In the coming months fundraising efforts will continue and the Foundation will begin making its first grants to various institutions and organizations currently being identified.  The Foundation is in close communication regarding a variety of initiatives and recipients, with schools, youth leagues, camps and other community-based organizations as initial partners.  If anyone would like to help organize a fundraising event, run a race or otherwise support the Foundation please don’t hesitate to let us know; Jack was all about inclusion, and to him the more people that got involved in anything, the better everyone’s experience will be.
